The Sewing Corner

Here are a few dresses almost ready for the store. I am excited! I am finding that I can comfortably sew about 4 in one week, working about 2 hours a day.

If you have any fabric or accessories suggestions let me know. Next year I hope to be more on top of the seasons with dresses made from appropriate colors for each season. I am working on sewing pantaloons or bloomers as we call them here, to match the outfits.

I am hoping to get a new sewing machine for my birthday ;-) And eventually a serger so that the clothes will look more professional!

  1. They look great! What price range are you looking at? My MIL has a Pfaff serger and it is great!

  2. I am thinking the prices will vary slitely depending on fabric and extras, as well as style....but for a basic jumper like these...probably around $16.00.
    Does that sound reasonable?

I wish I had a couple hundred dollars to spare this weekend as Joanns has a serger and sewing machine on sale. The discounts would save me about 350$...but I can only get one or the other and I think a new sewing machine warrants first priority.

I could skip the sono and be able to swing it...LOL

  3. I wish we had a JoAnns anywhere nearby!

Personally, $16 seems high. But when you figure price for material and work it is probably right. But I am truly el cheapo!

  4. I had to factor in shipping costs as well, which will run between two and three dollars :-(

So in all honesty by the time I have made the dress and shipped it out I will profit about 3 dollars LOL...good thing I'm not in it for the money ;-)

That comes out to 1.50 an hour!
