Sewing once again

I have so enjoyed sewing Eves summer wardrobe. I will sew her about 10 summer jumpers and that will hold her through the season. I love these jumpers because they are light and cool and look so cute on my little one. These three I finished today. To save time I will cut out and sew many projects at one time. As you can tell I LOVE floral fabrics. They are so sweet and lovely!

I am having a Spring Jumper give away! That's right.... leave me a comment letting me know you would like to enter the give away and I will draw two names this Sunday. If your name is chosen let me know the size your daughter wares and I will get right on it. My gift to you!

Maybe you can help!

I am using the new blogger beta. As of the past few weeks every time I want to edit something in my layout, I get a "cant find page error" So therefor I am unable to edit anything that I currently have in my sidebar (or layout)

Does anyone know why this might be happening and how I can fix it?

Thanks in Advance!

The Maxwells

Nathan and Melanie Maxwell, after many years waiting for the Lord to Bless them with a child, gave birth to their daughter on the 21st and The Lord took her home on the 24th. Please keep them in your prayers. How humble and undeserving I feel that I was playing with my children in the park yesterday as they said good by to their child.

A Beautiful Day!

Today the weather was as good as it gets. Absolutely wonderful. We went to the park and played. I took a ton of pictures...and am sharing just a few. I hope you had as peaceful a Saturday as I did!!

Pictures

Inspired by Letisha, I pulled out the user manual for my camera today and read through it. It had so many features that I did not know about. I headed outside and played around with it. It was lots of fun. I love the Sepia picture of Eve. The way her dress is blown forward from the wind. So precious.

Leaven

I read this post and thought I would share it with you as the spring holidays draw near. It's a beautiful example and object lesson on leaven.

Goings on

I ordered our chickens this morning. 11 Buff Orpingtons will be arriving shortly. These will be our layers. If all goes well with raising these ladies we will purchase 50 meat birds in a month. I am really excited to get them here. I have always wanted chickens and the time has finally come. My one and only concern really are the dogs, I sure hope they realize they are our pets and not chew toys. ;-/

I received the book A full quiver Tuesday in the mail, and finished it Wed afternoon. I would recommend this book to all married folks. It is written very well. The thing that stood out to me the most was that all scriptures that deal with conception and or pregnancy states clearly in not so many words that The Lord opened the womb and gave a child. It never says that so and so decided to have a child, etc. The Lord is the author and giver of live. He decides when a baby will be given, what color eyes they will have, what gender they will be, even the day of their birth is not about calculations and sono dates, that day is decided by The Father. I have known these things in my heart yet needed to hear truth spoken to me as I have become very content after the birth of Ava. Who knows perhaps its because The Lord is done giving us children, or perhaps it was just my selfish flesh getting the best of me.....I suspect the later is true. Nonetheless it was refreshing and convicting....just what I needed.

In the news today

I was really shocked and thought it must be a typo of some sort as I read the results of a study that was conducted. It said that the average time a mother spends with her children has gone up over the last 40 years. Here was the results, in 1965 the average time a mother spent with her child was 10.5 hours A WEEK!? But that NOW in 2007 mothers spend an average of 14 hours a week with their child(ren) HUH? Are they serious how can you only spend two hours a day with your child? Even if you are a working mother surly you are around your child more than that. Thats a shame realy. I could not imagine seeing my children for such a short time as this. I am so blessed to be able to spend at least 16 hours a day with my children, which is 112 hours A WEEK. Moms you really can live on one income, please put your children and home first!

More about Passover later today.

Overview of the Spring Holidays

Over the past few years I have been learning about our Hebrew heritage. It has been eye opening and has brought the wonders of our Creator into a whole new light for me. I want over these next few weeks as Passover draws near to share what I have learned and some of the things we will be doing as a family.

Three of the four spring holidays are celebrated within an eight-day period. The spring holidays of Passover, Unleavened Bread and First Ffruits are a portrait of the death and resurrection of Jesus. He sacrificed Himself on Passover, was buried on the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and was resurrected on First Fruits.

Passover and the Feast of Unleavened bread are held in immediate sequence. The lamb was slain on the fourteenth and the Feast of Unleavened Bread began on the 15th day of the first month. And in the fourteenth day of the first month is Passover of the Lord. And in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten (Num 28:16-17) This passage might account for why Jesus began His Passover seder on the fourteenth. These are distinctly different holidays falling in different days: however, due to there closeness they are usually treated as one festival

These three spring festivals overlap or run into each other:

1) Passover (Pesach)
2) Unleavened Bread (Hag HaMatzah)
3) Day of First Fruits and Omer
....and fifty days later....
4) Feast of Weeks

As you study the Spring Festivals, you will see the plan of God fulfilled in such dramatic detail that you cannot help but be stricken by the awesomeness of our eternal king. The Spring Festivals clearly prophesy the first coming of Messiah and the fall festivals are prophetic of His second coming.

Marvelous Mondays ;-)

Its Monday once again. I cant believe it is almost the end of March already. Where does all the time go? This is my favorite time of year. All the trees are blossoming and blooming, the smells are wonderful. The birds all around singing their songs. The color green emerging all over the ground. There is something so comforting in a field of green grass that sways with the wind. I just love it!

Yesterday I sewed Eve another dress. I'm working on getting her summer outfits finished. This time I used stretchy,T-shirt type material, I know theres a seamstress word for it but it has slipped my mind. The dress after completion was lovely, but sewing it was a challenge. It definately takes a bit more patience to work with than regular cotton material. But worth it. Here is miss Eve modeling her latest summer dress. She was not in the mood for pictures, I finally had her pinned in the corner of the kitchen and was able to get a shot.

Here is my baby lover Jordan. Ava was crying and he picked her up and sat down in the rocking chair and rocked her to sleep, so precious! Ava slept all night last night and I am paying for it this morning (you nursing momys know what I am talking about ;-) She had been nursing at 9:30pm and sleeping until 2:30am, nursed and then slept till 6:00am which was perfect. Then Saturday night my body woke up at 3:00am and she was just snoozing away, I woke her, fed her and put her back down. Then last night she and I both just snoozed right through the whole night. She was ravenous this morning. I called her my little piggy and Seth said no mom shes a "pig in a blanket" LOL

Well I need to get busy around here. Letisha I am getting requests for the peanut butter ball recipe. So give it up girl! Edited Later: Letishas Peanut Butter Balls

I pray that all you lovely moms have a blessed week, filled with laughter, patience and love. We are blessed and in the spring season of our lives. May you make memories this week to last a lifetime. May you run your homes efficeintly and orderly to the best of your ability with the Fathers help. So let it be!

Girly Girls

I feel much better now, I sewed Eve a dress yesterday and it was so much fun! I missed it so very much. I have a few more to sew for the girls. I havent tried anything as small as Avas size, but I am going to give it a shot. I dont think my sewing machine will accomodate the small arm holes, but we will just try it and see. The grettest thing about sewing your own clothing is that you get to pick out the cuttest materials.

Sisters till the end!

She is getting so big now! Smiling and laughing at ya. She tries to talk to you with her coos and awws! I love it!

How do you......

........cook for someone who does not like ..........

anything with rice
anything with pasta
beans
seafood
mexican food
indian food
home made bread (who doesnt like homemade bread??)
anything with tomato sauces
50% of all vegetables
chicken more than twice a week, or just on a day that they dont want it
anything different or ultra healthy and many other things I'm sure have slipt my mind.

Any ideas would be most welcome! Cooking the Nurishing Traditions way in this house is more than challenging its almost painful.

P.S. This person who we will leave nameless.....is the tallest person in the house, and can not be made to "sit at the table and eat your food....or you will have to wait until the next meal to eat"
UGHH!!

I'm still here

Wow, I cant believe I have gone so long without blogging, it seems I get about one post in a week these days. We have been busy enjoying this wonderful weather. Last weekend we met my sister and went to Chuckee Cheese's then down to the harbor on the lake. The boys played in the huge water fountains there and had a blast. I hadnt had a day out with my sister in a long time, so that was nice. We have gone to the park and played and spent much time in the backyard.

I am gearing up to start sewing again. It has been about two months sense I have sewn anything and I miss it terribly. I LOVE sewing! ;-) I need to start on Eves summer dresses and maybe even sew some little ones for Ava.

School has been going well and we are keeping on track. Letisha asked how we homeschool year round and the benefits of it for our family. We do 8 weeks on and two weeks off year round. This seems to work best for us. It is more laid back and leaves plenty of time for both school and play. We also take off Fridays for errands and to "deep clean" the house. The Sabbath "for us" starts on Friday at sunset until Sat at sunset.

Catching up

It has been a week of catching up. The boys and I will finish putting up the wood pickets on the fence today. We have about 50 feet left! YAY! We bought the lot next to our home and needed to then move the fence out and around it. Rob worked on digging up and resetting the posts all weekend and we will finish the pickets and get these dogs back outside where they belong. The yard is very large now, plenty of room for all to play!

Rob had his review on Monday ;-) He did wonderful and received a very good raise, I never thought we would be in this income bracket. He was also told that he will get a $700.00 bonus if he passes his test, which we have about 4-6 more weeks of waiting on that. The good thing is that Rob was reasured that if he doesnt pass any certain section he can go back and take it and will still get the bonus upon passing. His job is secure as well, no matter what the outcome.
Praise the Lord!

I seem to be completely healed....thank goodness! Well I need to get moving.

Here I go again.....

....to the pharmacy to get a different prescription.....wasnt I just there yesterday? The Dr called me this morning and said that the reason why I am not getting better is because the culture came back and it shows that the bacteria is resistant to Amoxiciclin (sp) So he has called me in something else.

He said that I should stop nursing Ava for a few days so that her body does not get overloaded with medicine, but I am not willing to do that at this point.

Anyway that is the news thus far...please keep praying...I appreciate it so much!

Thursday, March 01, 2007

I wanted to write something cutsie about Ava being 30 days old today...but I am just not up to it. I have been running an 103 temp today and that wipes me out or I end up soaking wet and shivering. I knew I had been running a fever these past few weeks but I hadn't actually taken my temp until today.

The results came back from the CT scan that I have a 1mm stone that is normal and will pass without incident. So Its not kidney stones. I just have an acute kidney infection that is proving to be a bit stubborn. I picked up my second round of antibiotics today and will be taking those for the next 10 days. If that doesn't work then we will try something else I suppose.

I am sooo behind here at the house its sad! I have seen a pattern that my temp peeks between noon and 4pm which results in me being reduced to laying on the couch. We are behind in school, house work and much more I'm sure. I have been snippy and grumpy towards my precious children.....even though I don't want to be. Ughh!

Anyway....I'm sure it wont last forever and it could always be worse so I need to be thankful even while feeling so bad. So much easier said than done.

Thank you all who ask how I am feeling, it means so much to me.
Oh that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever! Duet 5:29
