New Style

Ahh. To Sew. I just love it! This is Eves Memorial Day/4th of July dress. It is a new pattern that I had tucked away and had always meant to make, but havent had the time. It is very cute and FULL. So full that I am going to alter the pattern (like I always do ;-) But its cute nonetheless. I am going to add this style dress to the online boutique.

I have a button!

What kind of button you ask? A belly button...well yes. A shirt button...yep, that to. A mute button for my children...haha, nope its the one that took me weeks to figure out how to make. After many painstaking (yes, I'm slow with this whole html thing) hours I have created a store button for Sewing the Seams of Love! I wish the lettering was bigger, but it will work for now! So here it is!

If you add this button to your website or blog I will do two things. Enter you into a contest that I will be having soon. It will not be clothing, as I know some of you have boys, but something fun for anyone to enjoy! Secondly I will give you free shipping...forever!
If you want the code email me at audreys5boys@sbcglobal.net because I have not figured out yet how to put the html text here without it becoming the picture. ;-) If anyone knows how I might do that please let me know!

Memorial Day Sale!

All items in the store will be $2.00 off!

Sale runs until May 30th.
You can place your order with a hold of up to two weeks, if you want to take advantage of the sale but need to wait to actually pay for your order.
And this will be the last week that shipping is free(for blog readers only, all esle pay 2.00 shipping, so note in your order that you are a blog reader). I wanted to keep the prices really low, and am sooo much cheaper than any other website I have come across so far. The fact is that I am making about 2-4 dollars on each dress sometimes less. So in the name of progress this is a necessary change.

New things to look for while browsing the website:

1) All garments come in larger sizes now, up to 17 (although upon request I will do larger)
2) A Gallery with pictures of my work. I am adding to that continually. If you have a picture of your daughter in her "SewingtheSeamsofLove" dress and want her in the gallery, please send me a photo.
3) The price of the skirts and A line sundress have been lowered, as well as other price changes. Take a look!

Sewing once again

I have so enjoyed sewing Eves summer wardrobe. I will sew her about 10 summer jumpers and that will hold her through the season. I love these jumpers because they are light and cool and look so cute on my little one. These three I finished today. To save time I will cut out and sew many projects at one time. As you can tell I LOVE floral fabrics. They are so sweet and lovely!

I am having a Spring Jumper give away! That's right.... leave me a comment letting me know you would like to enter the give away and I will draw two names this Sunday. If your name is chosen let me know the size your daughter wares and I will get right on it. My gift to you!

Marvelous Mondays ;-)

Its Monday once again. I cant believe it is almost the end of March already. Where does all the time go? This is my favorite time of year. All the trees are blossoming and blooming, the smells are wonderful. The birds all around singing their songs. The color green emerging all over the ground. There is something so comforting in a field of green grass that sways with the wind. I just love it!

Yesterday I sewed Eve another dress. I'm working on getting her summer outfits finished. This time I used stretchy,T-shirt type material, I know theres a seamstress word for it but it has slipped my mind. The dress after completion was lovely, but sewing it was a challenge. It definately takes a bit more patience to work with than regular cotton material. But worth it. Here is miss Eve modeling her latest summer dress. She was not in the mood for pictures, I finally had her pinned in the corner of the kitchen and was able to get a shot.

Here is my baby lover Jordan. Ava was crying and he picked her up and sat down in the rocking chair and rocked her to sleep, so precious! Ava slept all night last night and I am paying for it this morning (you nursing momys know what I am talking about ;-) She had been nursing at 9:30pm and sleeping until 2:30am, nursed and then slept till 6:00am which was perfect. Then Saturday night my body woke up at 3:00am and she was just snoozing away, I woke her, fed her and put her back down. Then last night she and I both just snoozed right through the whole night. She was ravenous this morning. I called her my little piggy and Seth said no mom shes a "pig in a blanket" LOL

Well I need to get busy around here. Letisha I am getting requests for the peanut butter ball recipe. So give it up girl! Edited Later: Letishas Peanut Butter Balls

I pray that all you lovely moms have a blessed week, filled with laughter, patience and love. We are blessed and in the spring season of our lives. May you make memories this week to last a lifetime. May you run your homes efficeintly and orderly to the best of your ability with the Fathers help. So let it be!

Girly Girls

I feel much better now, I sewed Eve a dress yesterday and it was so much fun! I missed it so very much. I have a few more to sew for the girls. I havent tried anything as small as Avas size, but I am going to give it a shot. I dont think my sewing machine will accomodate the small arm holes, but we will just try it and see. The grettest thing about sewing your own clothing is that you get to pick out the cuttest materials.

Sisters till the end!

She is getting so big now! Smiling and laughing at ya. She tries to talk to you with her coos and awws! I love it!

How to make the towel toothbrush holder!

Many of you have asked how to make the toothbrush holder out of the towel, so here is what I did.

Buy a regular bathroom hand towel, not to thin and not to thick, a good medium texture. Lay it flat and cut it right down the center:

This will allow you to make 2 holders! Then you want to fold over and pin the raw (cut edge). I pin it and then sew a straight stitch. You may want to serge it or even bias tape it for more durability.

The next step is to fold over the bottom, where the toothbrushes slide in. I fold it in the middle of the decorative embroidery section, move it around to however you like it most. Then you will want to measure for your toothbrushes. I start in the center and work my way out, but really it just needs to fit what you want.

It helps me to actually set up the toothbrushes then measure across the bottom, while marking, this particular one I measured 1.5 inches for each section except the toothpaste in the middle was about 2 inches. I would not suggest using the large tubes of toothpaste, this one is the smaller 3.5 oz, I think the larger ones may weigh it down to much. You dont have to add toothpaste at all, I just thought I would see how it turned out.

Once you get the bottom marked, mark the top as well to help guide you while you are sewing. Next you will go to the sewing machine and sew a straight stitch along all your measurments. Then you are done. I do like to reverse stitch the tops to make them a bit stronger as that is where the tugging will be as they are pulled out.

Lastly you will either want to attach metal circle snaps, or just sew a button hole in the top corners and hang it on the wall. And you are done! It takes about 20 min to sew one and the cost is practicaly nill, If you buy a hand towel for two bucks, your cost is 1.00 a holder!!

Happy toothbrush holder making!!

Toothbrush Holders

I was intrigued by an idea I read about on the MOMYS digest. The idea was to make a toothbrush holder out of a towel. This would be inexpensive and could be washed when needed.

After a couple of tries this is what I came up with. I LOVE IT! It holds 11 brushes, but could hold more with a little ingenuity. It can be made in any color to match your bathroom. I am trying to come up with a way to label each section so that each child will know exactly what brush is theirs. It can be fancied up if desired with ribbon, lace, buttons or iron ons.

I am willing to make these for anyone who wants one. The cost for a basic (no frills) will be $7.00 (including shipping) If you order two I will only charge $6.00 a piece. You choose the color towel, and I will do my best to locate it. I will put them up on my store as well if you decide you might like one later on down the road. Otherwise email me at audreystucker@yahoo.com if your interested.
