Just how messed up things are

I have talked before about how I feel there is something wrong with my heart. It comes and goes, so like most of us moms we forget about it until it comes back again. Last night it returned. I was up until 2:30 with a tight chest and having a hard time breathing. I got up at 2:00 and started riding on my stationary bike because I felt like I just needed oxygen. I am still feeling tight chested this morning. I decided this morning I would call and make am appointment to see a Dr. So I get on the horn and call the two cardiologists in the area. Ready to hear what I was told? I informed them that I had no insurance, but can pay cash. She then proceeded to tell me that they can not take patients with out insurance for heart evaluation problems because the tests are so expensive its just not feasible. So I was basically told today that I can not get my heart checked because I do not have insurance. We live in the greatest country in the world, with the best health care in the world? Really...are we sure about that? I'm not! So I'm asking for prayer, because apparently that's my only route! Please pray for complete healing of whatever the problem may be!! Thank You!

most hospitals have assistance for people without insurance or will do payment plans, but you'd have to go through the ER. I wouldn't mess around with your heart.

Oh no, that stinks. There has got to be something? I'm pretty sure we are in a different state, but my mom has seen the cardiologist without insurance. Mabye you should consider an out of state doctor? This could be spendy though.
1 thing I wanted to mention is your symptoms sound like what happens to me when I have an anxiety attack. I thought there was something really wrong on a few occasions. And this is usually my only symptom when having an anxiety attack. I know how scary the feeling of not having enough oxygen is. Praying for you.

Blessings,
Christy

I second the person who said to go to the ER... don't mess with a possible heart attack. Next time it happens, go straight to the ER. They CANNOT refuse to treat you. I'll be praying!

That's absolutely nuts. I don't have insurance either. Keep calling around, someone will take you in on a payment plan.

I remember when a doctor wanted me to get a renal ultrasounds one time when I was really sick (had a BAD cold for month, and it was stressing my kidneys, and making them bleed). I informed him that I didn't have insurance, and I was told that that's okay. The renal ultrasound would cost 500 dollars.

Well, I turned down the test, and years later I'm just fine, but it was nice that they would have run the test if I wanted to, and I would have paid them 500 dollars, and would not have been looked down on for not having insurance.

Definately praying. Seems crazy that they would turn down cash just because you have no insurance. Shame on them for charging excessive prices when the insurance will not pay that full price anyway!

We're praying for you!

I'd hate for you to have to pay ER fees, but if that's the only way to get in, I guess it's an option?

Have you been to a regular "family doctor" to get it checked? Are you sure you need to see a specialist? I don't know what you've already done, or if you've already tried that, so I was just wondering.

Oh that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever! Duet 5:29
